The note more or less distils what I was told in response to my questions; it looks as though in the case of donating by standing order, I didn't ask the right ones. I will know better next time.

Regarding tax efficiency, I would have assumed that as CaTEW is a charity, any restricted fund they established would also be charitable, and therefore donations could be gift-aided to to it and (for higher-rate taxpayers) tax claimed back, in the normal way?AHJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12276213667840930253noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-318946601530749054.post-56601197805591512642011-01-26T19:54:44.954+00:002011-01-26T19:54:44.954+00:00http://thecatholicleague.blogspot.com/

If a bank account exists money may be paid into it by Standing Order. This is a matter for the donor, not the recipient. All that is necessary is for the bank account number and sort code to be publicised (as the donor needs to know these to set up a Standing Order).

(Direct Debits are a different matter, but Standing Orders are simplicity itself.)Sir Watkinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02000106556898498656noreply@blogger.com
